Recognizing GNSS Signal Interference Threats
Military bases, government facilities, and other fixed-site locations need a way to protect against the threat of signal jamming and spoofing. Because GNSS signals are relatively weak once they reach the surface of the Earth, they can be easily manipulated. Adversaries can turn low-cost SDRs into GPS jammers and spoofers. They then can turn around and use those devices to disrupt operations and emit fake satellite signals.
A solution to jamming and spoofing can range from anti-jam antennas and add-on devices, to GPS threat detection sensors and even embedded software that protects critical infrastructure.
Soldiers and command and control centers rely on essential GNSS signals for communication, weapon defense systems, and knowledge on the ground. Sometimes these signals can be compromised in 2 ways:
- An adversary blocks the ability of the warfighter to use satellite signals for their equipment, thus causing a loss of communications and radar.
- An adversary leverages the GNSS signals to learn something about the warfighter, and their location or movement.

VersaPNT
The VersaPNT combines a GNSS receiver, inertial measurement technology and high-performance timing oscillators to provide Assured PNT in GNSS-degraded and denied environments. This rugged and highly customizable device serves as a navigation system, master clock and network time server for mobile applications in harsh environmental conditions.
VersaPNT minimizes size, weight and power (SWaP) by combining PNT functions normally achieved through multiple independent subsystems, allowing for efficient integration into a myriad of ground, air and maritime platforms.

Ultra Accurate Atomic Clocks Ensure Mission Success
Underpinning the navigation and timing technology are Safran’s atomic clocks and oscillators. By providing both frequency signals as well as time of day information, the atomic clocks are able to keep missions on track, no matter the environment or levels of interference.

Ruggedized mRO-50 Rubidium Oscillator
The easiest way to guarantee that your UAV’s navigation system will receive a constant timing signal is to incorporate the ruggedized MRO-50. The ruggedized MRO-50 provides a 1-day of holdover with 1µs precision. Its extremely low-SWAP (Size, Weight and Power) form factor make it so that it can easily fit into any UAV model type and withstand intense vibration and temperature environments.
The MRO-50 oscillator can also be used as time base for a UAV’s Inertial Navigation System. If the UAV loses a lock with the satellite signals and needs to revert to its INS, the MRO-50 can reliably supply timing information to the INS.
