MIRA
Micro Rubidium Atomic Clock
MIRAâ„¢ is the second-generation Miniature Rubidium Atomic clock developed by Safran Electronics & Defense. It is designed to augment precision timing technology for defense, aerospace, telecom, and industrial markets.
Designed to enhance precision timing across defense, aerospace, telecom, and industrial sectors, MIRA leverages 30 years of expertise and more than 40,000 compact Rubidium clocks delivered in the past decade.
Smaller, lighter, and the most power-efficient in its class (0.5 W in standard mode and 1.5W in high-performance mode), MIRA delivers exceptional accuracy and resilience. It offers two selectable performance and power modes—unique in the market—and achieves holdover stability under 500 nanoseconds over 24 hours, maintaining precise timing even without GNSS. Its ultra-compact 40 cc form factor and 16 mm height make it ideal for mobile and space-constrained systems.
Engineered for demanding environments, MIRA operates from –40 °C to +80 °C, resists 50 g shock and 7.7 gRMS vibration, and maintains atomic lock even in high-altitude flight. Standard interfaces and flexible disciplining simplify integration and upgrades for both new and legacy platforms.
Crucially, MIRA ensures timing continuity in GNSS-denied or contested environments—vital for electronic warfare resilience or as a critical infrastructure backup time source. Its advantages are immediate: dependable operation in harsh conditions, longer autonomy for portable systems, and rapid deployment in critical infrastructure.
MIRA supports diverse applications including secure telecom and satcom networks, radar and navigation systems, counter-UAV solutions, and synchronization of UAV communications and payloads.
