White Rabbit Switch – Low Jitter
For demanding time and frequency distribution applications
The newest White Rabbit Switch – Low Jitter contains a series of improvements that enable its use in more demanding time and frequency distribution applications. The WRS-LJ distributes Time and Frequency within sub-nanosecond accuracy to thousands of nodes through standard optical fiber, providing very low noise and accurate timing outputs.
The WRS-LJ provides deterministic delivery and a reliable communication. Currently, highly demanding industrial and scientific facilities in more than fourteen countries are already using WR Switches for time-critical applications.
Advantages
Enhanced Monitoring
SNMP set of data is provided, containing information about the timing and the general status of the devices, to be integrated with the most used tools for management and data visualization, i.e. Icinga or Graphana.
Lower Power Consumption
The hardware of the standard WRS has been redesigned in order achieve a better thermic dissipation and reduce the power consumption of the device. The new design provides high reliability and improved MTFB (Mean Time Between Failures).
Improved Frequency Stability
The measurements of frequency stability in terms of phase noise performance and Allan Deviation (ADEV) show a significant improvement with respect to the standard White Rabbit Switch (see the comparison in the figures below).
USE CASES
-
Precise Timing in Beam Position Monitoring (BPM)
Beam Position Monitoring (BPM) is crucial in particle accelerators and other high-energy physics experiments, where beams of particles like electrons or protons are steered and focused to collide or to hit targets with extreme precision. Precise BPM is vital for the safety, efficiency, and success of these experiments.
-
Ultra-high Precision in Low Level RF
High Energy Physics (HEP) experiments, such as those conducted at particle accelerators and synchrotrons, require extremely precise control and synchronization of beam dynamics to achieve accurate and meaningful results.
-
High Accuracy Timing for Exchanges
Improve accuracy and precision to and within their matching networks, provide better transparency to exchange participants, high resolution timestamping for network latency monitoring and the ability to monetize time distribution as a service to market participants
