GPS Receivers
Ultra-accurate GNSS receiver technology for commercial and military vehicles
Safran continues to pioneer leading-edge GPS receiver solutions through its Skylightâ„¢ technology, enabling precise position and location data for both civilian and defense applications.
What is a GPS Receiver & Who Is It For?
A GPS receiver is a device that receives signals from satellites – particularly the group of satellites operated by the United States called the Global Positioning System. The receiver determines its position, velocity and time based off the time and location data from the satellites.
A Galileo receiver is similar to a GPS receiver but is designed to work with Galileo – the European Union’s own group of satellites, or constellation. Galileo is independent of GPS and offers dual frequency signals (E1 and E5) for resilience and accuracy.
Safran GNSS receivers are being used in applications for:
Military Aircrafts
- For aircrafts and helicopters, Safran GNSS receivers provide precise location and velocity data, including encrypted satellite signals (M-Code & PRS).
Civilian Aircrafts
- For commercial aviation, Safran GNSS receivers offer resilient and accurate frequency receivers, dual capacity Galileo E1/E6, and GPS L1/L.
Data Center Facilities
- For server racks and distributed systems that all need to have precise timestamps, the timing information comes from atomic clocks on board satellites.
Public Safety
- For 911 call centers, radio communications, and cell phone towers, Safran GNSS receivers provide direct access to satellite links.
GNSS Receiver & GNSS Constellation Feature Comparison
| Feature | GPS Receiver | P(Y) M-Code Receiver | Galileo Receiver | PRS Receiver |

Top Notch Positioning, Navigation and Timing – Capabilities
The PNT – Positioning, Navigation and Timing – capabilities of the Skylight are top notch. The Skylight also offers the capability of receiving military grade encrypted signals from GPS and Galileo: M-Code & PRS (subject to government authorizations).
GPS Receivers That Are Resilient Against Jamming, Spoofing & Meaconing
Safran GPS receivers have been ruggedized and designed to operate in spite of signal interference such as jamming, spoofing, and meaconing. The Skylight, for example, possess military grade anti-spoofing and anti-jamming algorithms. There is also the possibility for the user to upgrade the products with an embedded atomic clock (option).

GPS Satellite Signal Readiness Starts Here
The operation of aerial vehicles, public transportation, and critical infrastructure, such as power grids and data centers, hinges on secure connection to satellite signals.
High-performance GNSS receivers is a must to ensure uninterrupted operation and continual reception of GPS signals.
