Safran Meet with Greek Armed Forces & Defense companies During a Seminar on PNT Resilience and Emerging Technologies

Athens, Greece – November 25, 2025 – Safran Electronics & Defense met with senior representatives of the Hellenic Armed Forces during a seminar jointly organized with trading company Defenco SA at the Officers’ Club of the Armed Forces (LAED) in Athens. The event served as a platform for strategic dialogue on Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) resilience and emerging defense technologies, bringing together key stakeholders from the Hellenic Armed Forces, the Coast Guard, the Ministry of National Defense, public institutions, and Greece’s defense and technology industries.

The seminar focused on the strategic importance of Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) technologies and the need to safeguard their resilience across military and civilian domains. Executives from Safran emphasized the critical role of resilient PNT capabilities in modern multi-domain operations (land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace) and noted that current conflicts, including the ongoing war in Ukraine, have reinforced their significance for both defense and everyday societal activities.

Lieutenant-General (ret.) Martin Klotz, SVP International & Public Affairs at Safran, outlined the company’s leadership in electro-optical, inertial, and navigation systems, emphasizing the independence of Safran products from U.S. export controls and addressing the growing challenges of navigation warfare (NAVWAR).

“In today’s contested operational environment, assured Positioning, Navigation, and Timing is a decisive capability,” said Lt. Gen. (ret.) Martin Klotz. “Resilient PNT underpins mission command, precision fires, ISR, and joint force interoperability across land, maritime, air, space, and electromagnetic domains”

Safran experts presented the company’s latest resilient PNT solutions, including Interference Detection and Mitigation (IDM) algorithms, Hemispherical Resonator Gyroscope (HRG) technology, and inertial navigation systems for multiple applications.

“Safran Electronics & Defense is proud to deliver sovereign, ITAR-free technologies that strengthen the operational autonomy and resilience of the Hellenic Armed Forces in high-threat, GNSS-denied scenarios,” added Lieutenant-General (ret.) Martin Klotz.
