Spectracom PresenTense Network Time Management Software PresenTense Time Server s-e-ntp-pts-01 Installation Instructions and Summary of Operation: The "PresenTense Time Server" folder on this CD contains a file called ptsvrdemo.exe. Open the folder, double-click on this file, and then click "Run" to install the selected program on the PC. The Setup Wizard will walk you through the installation process. Once the PresenTense Time Server program has been installed, you can open this program by selecting "PresenTense Server" from the Start/Programs menu. After opening the program, you will need to configure the desired primary and backup reference time servers with which to synchronize. You will also have to configure how often the PC will synchronize, where the Syslog server will send logs (if desired), and the SMTP server address to which alert messages will be sent (if desired). Note: The primary and backup (if desired and available) time sources should both be Spectracom NTP time servers on the network. It is highly recommended that two NTP time servers be installed on the network to provide redundancy. 1) To configure the primary and backup time references, click on the Settings tab and choose "Internet Time Server" as the reference time source. Then click on the "Internet Time Server" tab and enter the IP address of the desired time source. 2) To configure the synchronization interval, select the desired interval in the "Synchronize Every" box in the "Internet Time Server" tab. 3) To configure the program to automatically send logs to a Syslog server on the network, click on the Settings tab and enter the IP address of the Syslog server in the Alarm Notification box. 4) To configure the program to automatically send alert messages to an email address on the network, click on the Settings tab and enter the IP address of the SMTP server in the Alarm Notification box.
