Rolling out OSNMA for the secure synchronization of telecom networks
Networked and cooperative implementations of GNSS-based technology have become pervasive in low-cost devices such as smartphones, wearables, and geolocated Internet of Things (IoT) devices. The use of GNSS signals for timing applications is becoming more and more widespread and GNSS is one of the reference technologies for the synchronization of remote telecommunications network nodes. However, the potential vulnerability of GNSS signals raises specific concerns in resilient network operations, as well as the growing risk associated with cyberphysical attacks against software running on network devices.
What new security challenges have ROOT considered and what technology has been developed to improve network synchronization? And what are the right strategies and methods to ensure the physical cybersecurity of GNSS-based devices?
Orolia’s contribution consists of the integration of mosaic-T (with OSNMA) within the WR-Z16 for 5G telecom network.
